The target markets for the book are spinal researchers, clinicians and students (Physio/Chiro/Osteo). Rehabilitation of spinal control is currently considered to be one of the most promising treatments for back pain (which affects up to 80% of the population). The target audience is much larger than that for the recent text by Richardson et al (2004) as the book is also targeted to researchers and disciplines (e.g. Chiropractic, Orthopaedic surgery, Kinesiology) other than physiotherapy. The appeal to the other disciplines is ensured by the contribution from authors across these disciplines. The book will also have international appeal as it includes welll known authors from Europe, North America, Australia, Asia and the Middle East.
